lamborghini mucielago

Lets face it, the day wasn't going to be like any other.

How often does a friend say, I'm going to Birmingham on Friday to pick up a Lamborghini Murceilago, do you want to come? Resisting the temptation to scream out loud and jump around uncontrollably, I react as calmly as I can, mind already made up.

Friday comes and I'm collected for the journey North. Of course I forgot to mention that the journey to Birmingham was in his Aston Martin Vanquish S. Another car I can only dream about, but this is the only car that has bored my friend so quickly hence the fact its not coming back with us!

What could have been a fun journey was traffic riddled, the Aston closing in on the car in front at a rapid rate, only for the mobile phone holding driver to ignore us completely, jabbing on the brakes every so often because during his phone call, he's forgotten how to drive or where he is.

We arrive late in Birmingham, itching to see the new beast and there it was parked out front in what I can describe as the loudest, brightest green I have ever seen. WOW! Interior to match, you are not going to be a shy retiring type to be seen in this.

On start up I was almost thrown through the showroom window. With a Tubi Style exhaust system, the car is loud! Oh My God its loud!! As my friend takes it for a quick drive with the salesman I take the opportunity to take some photos of the Aston, and now I start to see what he means. The Aston is understated. Its a beautiful car, but next to the Lambo there is no competition.

Returning to the showroom grinning ear to ear, my friend starts the paperwork, only to be interrupted by a visit from the boys in blue. Obviously a noticeable car, the police had recorded during the test drive an over-taking manoeuvre they were not impressed with. The car isn't even in his name and its got him in trouble already! Luckily the sales manager smoothes things over and we are finally under way!!

Watching the other drivers on the road, and you feel famous. They are so busy looking at this bright, loud, sexy car, that I wouldn't be surprised if we left a few shunts behind us. At least with this car unlike the Aston, people actually see it in their mirror and move out of your way very quickly. Needless to say the journey back was a little quicker than the journey there. And a little louder too. The Tubi exhaust can be intrusive at times, usually in the low rev range, and with an engine this size, that is where you are when cruising.

What can I say about this car except, I would sell everything including my soul to get one. Lamborghini to me is still the ultimate car. It is an awesome machine which I hope to go in again soon, and if my friend has a really off day, maybe he'll let me drive it. But that thought is as realistic as me owning one!
